Draken International Awarded Air National Guard Contract

Hawaii and CONUS (November 15, 2017) - Draken International Awarded Air National Guard Contract

Following the USAF’s decision to grant a one-year extension for Adversary Air (ADAIR) support at Nellis AFB, Draken International continues to expand its presence throughout the Combat Air Forces with the award of the Air National Guard (ANG) contract. Over the next five years, Draken International will be responsible for providing red air services that will support key combat readiness training exercises throughout the United States.

With pending adversary air support contracts under development throughout the DoD, the ANG recognized the significant role commercial adversary assets would play in the future supporting combat readiness training.  The National Guard Bureau elected to accelerate its timeline to less than six months from notification to award to ensure adequate commercial resources would be readily available. Their hard work paid off, guaranteeing sufficient red air aircraft for specified exercises scheduled for 2018 and beyond.

The primary locations where Draken will provide Adversary Air Support (AAS) include Volk Field, WI, Alpena, MI, Gulfport, LA, Savannah, GA, Klamath Falls, OR, and Oahu, HI. As the only commercial aggressor company with certified tactical fighters with radars and 4th generation capabilities, Draken is fully prepared to challenge the ANG with various platforms that will be employed during the two-week total force exercises. With regeneration underway on 22 newly purchased Mirage F1M/F1B aircraft, Draken will have a complement of fighters to operate including the L-159 Honey Badger, A-4 Skyhawk, as well as an additional advanced fighter to be announced in the coming weeks.

The ANG’s combat readiness training exercises will include Sentry Savannah, Northern Lightning, Northern Strike, and Sentry Aloha. In addition, the ANG is planning to coordinate long-term direct adversary support for all initial training of the legacy platform F-15C at Kingsley Field in Klamath Falls, OR.

Draken remains committed to investing significant capital into credible assets to ensure our military trains against a cost-effective yet capable adversary. In anticipation of ACC’s CAF ADAIR contract in 2019 requiring 28,000 red air sorties, Draken’s capacity will offer our military the ability to train against a threat representative adversary with a force ratio that will ultimately challenge our warfighters throughout ACC.
